JUNIOR HIGH CATECHISM
“The testimony about Christ was confirmed among you.” 1 Corinthians 1:6
Lutheran confirmation instruction provides young people the opportunity to understand and grow in the teachings of Holy Scripture, building on the foundation given in their baptism. At Trinity Lutheran Church, children are confirmed in the faith in the spring of their 8th grade year.
To prepare for confirmation, Trinity’s young people complete a two-year period of instruction in the teachings of the Lutheran church, as outlined in Martin Luther’s Small Catechism.
Seventh and Eighth grade students enrolled at Trinity Lutheran School complete this training during the school day. Seventh grade students, taught by Mrs. Cindy Good, learn the basic teachings of the Lutheran Church, as outlined in the Small Catechism. In 8th Grade, students, who are taught by Pastor Hemenway, focus on spiritual application.
Confirmation students who are not enrolled in Trinity Lutheran School attend after-school classes with Pastors Hemenway each Wednesday from 4:00 – 5:00 pm, September-May, of their 7th and 8th grade years.
Trinity Lutheran Church celebrates the confirmation of its junior high students on Palm Sunday each year. The confirmands participate in their first communion service on Maundy Thursday.
