The CDC has recommended that for the next 8 weeks, organizers cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 people or more throughout the U.S.
For this reason, Trinity Lutheran Church has decided to postpone our weekend worship services until further notice. In addition, there will be no Sunday School or Sunday Morning Bible Study classes until further notice. All Trinity board meetings have also been canceled until further notice.
We will continue to offer our worship services online each week through our YouTube channel. Trinity will also begin offering additional digital resources to help support your time in God’s Word during this time of social distancing. We encourage you to subscribe to our YouTube channel and follow our Facebook page to access our digital resources and stay up-to-date on announcements.
If you would like to receive Communion, please contact the church office to a schedule time with a pastor. The church office will remain open during this time. If you have any questions or wish to schedule an appointment, please call 787-2323. If our secretary does not answer, please leave a message and you will receive a response as soon as possible.

The Board of Christian Day School met on Sunday March 15, 2020, and affirmed the decision to keep plans for Monday as previously scheduled. While there have been confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Sangamon county in the last two days, the School Board has stated that tomorrow is an optional day for attendance.
Classes will run as normal. If you choose to stay home (this will not be counted as an absence) work will be available for pick-up in the office between the hours of 1pm and 4pm. Please contact the school office or classroom teacher(s) to let them know about these arrangements for your family.
School work that will be given out tomorrow will be for the five days we will be out under the current schedule. If the time out of the classroom is extended you will be notified as soon as we know. During this time teachers will be keeping daily classroom hours to allow for communication between students/parents and teachers. This information will be supplied to you by the classroom teachers tomorrow.

At this time, we plan to proceed with normal schedules at both our church and school, while actively planning for next steps if needed. Our custodial staff has increased efforts to disinfect frequently touched surfaces at both our church and school campuses and we are in the process of adding hand sanitizing stations at our school campus. Throughout the school day, we encourage frequent and thorough handwashing by students and staff.
Our church services will continue as scheduled and we will maintain our practice of greeting one another at the start of the service. Church members may refrain from shaking hands and opt for an alternate greeting if they feel more comfortable.
As we receive communion, we will continue the use of the common cup for now and evaluate if other action is needed. That is a personal choice. Of course, we will continue to have individual cups if you prefer to make a switch for a time. Should it become necessary, we are ready to increase our digital ministry through podcasts, online sermons/worship & other means.
We encourage our school families and church members to do the following:
– Avoid / stay away from those who are experiencing any illness
– Wash your hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer
– Keep hands away from eyes, nose, and mouth
– Disinfect frequently touched surfaces in your home or places of work
– Use disinfectant wipes identified for use against Influenza A & B and Coronaviruses
If you have symptoms (fever, cough, difficulty breathing):
– Cover your coughs and sneezes
– Stay home and call your doctor
– Remain at home until you are cleared to return to work or school
This situation continues to develop and change rapidly. In all of this, we don’t want to over-respond or under-respond. We are doing everything we can to handle this situation in the most effective way possible.
We encourage you to stay connected and look for updates from Trinity through our primary communication methods. This webpage will continue to be updated as new information becomes available. Updates will also be posted on our Facebook page, through the Trinity app, and sent via email. If you would like to receive notification via email, please click here.
Please pray for people around the world who are currently suffering from coronavirus and their caregivers, families and community. Pray for those who grieve loss of their loved ones to the virus. Pray that our medical professionals find the proper treatment for the virus and keep it under control. Pray that our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world would be a beacon of light and love to those who are suffering.

If you are a parent or grandparent and are unsure of how to talk with the children in your life about the Coronavirus situation, this video may be a helpful tool for you.
Children are very observant and are undoubtedly aware that something significant is happening. It is important that we talk with our children and answer their questions to avoid unnecessary anxiety.
