Due to new mitigations announced this week, masks will now be required during Trinity’s worship services. All those attending in-person worship are asked to keep their masks on for the duration of the service. We appreciate your cooperation as we seek to follow the guidelines provided by our local officials, and to ensure the health and safety of our community.

We pray all is well with you today! Due to recent developments at Trinity Lutheran Church this past weekend, we are suspending in-person worship service for the upcoming weekend – October 31/November 1.
All appropriate protocol was followed during each service, including masks, gloves, social distancing, and room sanitization following the service. For this reason, we believe the risk of exposure having occurred among other worshipers is low. However, out of an abundance of caution, our church leaders have opted to cancel this weekend’s upcoming in-person worship services and move exclusively to online worship. This decision was made out of care and concern for the health of all of our members.
Trinity’s Classic Worship Service and Family Worship Service will be published on our YouTube channel by 5:30 pm on Saturday. Links to the service will be posted on the Trinity website and Facebook page. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate these unique times.

Good Morning Trinity Community,
We pray all is well with you today! Our church leaders would like to make you aware of a recent development here at Trinity. Late Sunday one of our ushers from the 9:15 am worship service started exhibiting symptoms and has now tested positive for COVID. All appropriate protocol was followed during his time at the worship service, including masks, gloves, social distancing, and room sanitization following the service.
For this reason, we believe the risk of exposure having occurred among other worshipers is low. However, out of an abundance of caution, our church leaders have opted to cancel all upcoming in-person worship services and move exclusively to online worship for the time being. This decision was made out of care and concern for the health of all of our members. Additionally we recognize the importance of protecting the health of our pastoral staff. During Pastor Holmes’ absence, we have no readily available back-up should Pastor Hemenway become ill.
Trinity’s Classic Worship Service and Family Worship Service will be published on our YouTube channel by 5:30 pm on Saturday. Links to the service will be posted on the Trinity website and Facebook page. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate these unique times.
In Christ,

A message from Pastor Hemenway:
Greetings in Christ!
I pray that you and your loved ones are all safe and healthy! I would like to share a couple of updates with you.
While my family’s trip to Idaho was cancelled due to Covid-19, I will be taking some vacation time over the next couple of weeks to hang out with my family. We are blessed to have Pastor Schurb leading worship the weekends of August 1st/2nd and August 8th/9th. Pastor Radtke will handle any pastoral emergencies that arise while I’m gone. Online worship will continue to be available on our YouTube channel and website and we will be also be adding online Family Worship and weekly devotionals to our schedule. The church office hours will remain the same, Monday-Friday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. I will not be checking email, texts or voicemails on my cell, so please contact the church office to be sure that your message is received.
Please continue to keep Pastor Holmes and his family in your prayers as they mourn the death of his father. Because of his recovery from the Cornonavirus and trying to take care of funeral arrangements we are uncertain of the time when he will return to serve.
Lastly, I want to share with you that I have received a Call to serve as the senior pastor at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kalispell, MT. Please keep us in your prayers as we deliberate this Call and prayerfully discern God’s will for us in ministry.

For this reason, our online Classic Worship Services will now be published on Wednesdays. If you’re looking for online resources this Sunday, we encourage you to view a previous service, or any of the many worship and devotional resources archived on our YouTube channel.
Throughout this time of social distancing, many people have reached out to share their appreciation for our online worship services and have confirmed that the time spent creating a quality online worship experience helped keep our people engaged and connected to God’s Word. For this reason, it is important to us that we continue providing high quality worship services online. Moving the posting date allows us to do this while balancing the in-person worship schedule. We appreciate your understanding as we continue Sharing Christ and Meeting Needs during this unique time!

June 15, 2020
We are delighted to share with you that Trinity Lutheran Church will reopen for worship this weekend – June 20th & 21st! We look forward to reuniting in person and are thankful for the opportunity to worship together again. In preparation for resuming in-person worship, we have carefully reviewed current CDC guidelines and the practices employed by other churches. Below, is an overview of in-person worship procedures. There may be slight changes to these procedures in future weeks, if we identify any issues with the system. For those who feel more comfortable continuing to social distance, online worship will still be offered.
Each worship service will be limited to 85 attendees. For this reason, we ask that you reserve a space for worship ahead of time. You may do so using this Sign Up Genius form or by calling or emailing the church office, 217-787-2323 x2 or church@trinity-lutheran.com.
Due to the limitation on gathering size, we have added an additional worship service which will take place during the Sunday School & Sunday Morning Bible Class hour. Sunday School and Sunday Morning Bible Class will not resume until the gathering size recommendations have been expanded. The sanctuary and the parish hall will be cleaned between services.
Worship times and locations:
- Saturday, 5:30pm – School Campus (515 S. MacArthur Blvd.)
- Sunday, 8:00am – Church Campus (220 S. Second St.)
- Sunday, 9:15am – School Campus (515 S. MacArthur Blvd.)
- Sunday, 10:30am – Church Campus (220 S. Second St.)
The following procedures will be in place when you arrive for worship:
- Two points of entrance will be available to help control traffic flow and avoid congestion. At the downtown church location, we will be using the new addition entrances, on the north and south side of the building.
- An usher will be stationed at each entrance, holding the doors open to avoid unnecessary contamination.
- We ask that you maintain a distance of 6 feet from other families as you enter the building and approach the sanctuary or parish hall.
- We encourage you to wear a mask as you enter and exit church. Masks will be available for those who do not have one. Once you are seated and properly socially distanced, you may remove your mask for worship.
- Hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout the building.
- An usher will greet you as you approach the worship space and direct you to another usher who will show you to your seat.
- We will fill the worship space from front to back, with pews left open to avoid unnecessary contact. We ask that you comply with the seating procedure even if you are placed in a new area of the sanctuary or parish hall. Who knows, you may enjoy the new perspective and view!
Notes about the worship:
- All items have been removed from the pews to avoid additional risk of contamination.
- Due to evidence that singing increases the risk of spreading germs, music during the service will be instrumental or presented by a soloist.
- Offering plates will not be passed during the service but will be available at the back of church for you to place your offering into as you exit.
- Once worship has concluded, ushers will dismiss congregants by pew, from back to front.
These procedures and guidelines were developed through careful consideration and with love for the members of our congregation. Your safety and health are very important to us. There are still many unknowns related to this virus and strong opinions on all sides. We ask that you show your love for others by following these recommendations. Now more than ever we appreciate the gift of worshiping together as a community and pray that God will bless our time together. May He create in each of us a gentle spirit and grateful heart as we gather to worship Him together as His people! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the church office.
Blessings,
The Board of Elders

At this time, we plan to proceed with normal schedules at both our church and school, while actively planning for next steps if needed. Our custodial staff has increased efforts to disinfect frequently touched surfaces at both our church and school campuses and we are in the process of adding hand sanitizing stations at our school campus. Throughout the school day, we encourage frequent and thorough handwashing by students and staff.
Our church services will continue as scheduled and we will maintain our practice of greeting one another at the start of the service. Church members may refrain from shaking hands and opt for an alternate greeting if they feel more comfortable.
As we receive communion, we will continue the use of the common cup for now and evaluate if other action is needed. That is a personal choice. Of course, we will continue to have individual cups if you prefer to make a switch for a time. Should it become necessary, we are ready to increase our digital ministry through podcasts, online sermons/worship & other means.
We encourage our school families and church members to do the following:
– Avoid / stay away from those who are experiencing any illness
– Wash your hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer
– Keep hands away from eyes, nose, and mouth
– Disinfect frequently touched surfaces in your home or places of work
– Use disinfectant wipes identified for use against Influenza A & B and Coronaviruses
If you have symptoms (fever, cough, difficulty breathing):
– Cover your coughs and sneezes
– Stay home and call your doctor
– Remain at home until you are cleared to return to work or school
This situation continues to develop and change rapidly. In all of this, we don’t want to over-respond or under-respond. We are doing everything we can to handle this situation in the most effective way possible.
We encourage you to stay connected and look for updates from Trinity through our primary communication methods. This webpage will continue to be updated as new information becomes available. Updates will also be posted on our Facebook page, through the Trinity app, and sent via email. If you would like to receive notification via email, please click here.
Please pray for people around the world who are currently suffering from coronavirus and their caregivers, families and community. Pray for those who grieve loss of their loved ones to the virus. Pray that our medical professionals find the proper treatment for the virus and keep it under control. Pray that our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world would be a beacon of light and love to those who are suffering.

Coronavirus Video from Brain Pop
Children are very observant and are undoubtedly aware that something significant is happening. It is important that we talk with our children and answer their questions to avoid unnecessary anxiety.
