2022 LCMS National Youth Gathering

The Trinity Youth Group is sending 13 youth and 4 adults to the National Youth Gathering in Houston, July 9-13. In the past, the youth have had 3 years to raise funds for this event, but COVID restrictions have limited this time to only a few months. We are asking for support from Trinity members to help defray the cost so that no youth are denied the opportunity to attend this life-changing event due to lack of funds.

The estimated cost for attending the Gathering is $1,600 per person, which includes airfare to Houston, hotels, Gathering registration, special events, and food. Each attendee has already paid $400 toward these costs, but recent fundraisers have collected only a fraction of the balance.

Please prayerfully consider supporting our youth by contributing to the Youth Gathering Campaign at any of the following levels:

  • Full Sponsorship – $1200
  • Half Sponsorship – $600
  • Quarter Sponsorship – $300
  • Partial Sponsorship – Any amount

Contributions can be made by check or via Trinity’s eGiving system. Checks should be made out to Trinity Lutheran Church with “Youth Gathering” noted on the memo line or envelope, then placed in the offering plate or mailed to the church address (220 S. Second St., Springfield, IL 62701)

To donate online, click on the link below and choose “Youth Gathering Campaign” in the “Fund” drop down menu.

Contributions will be divided among attendees, with special consideration for families with 2 or more members attending.

Rebuilding Trinity’s Youth Ministry Program

Following the events of the past couple of years and the impact on our youth, we have taken some time to re-evaluate our youth ministry program and ensure that we are able to meet the needs of our students and families. We have extended our youth program to include 5th grade through high school students and are excited to connect with kids earlier and more often during their middle school and high school years! The goal of Trinity’s Youth Ministry Program is to equip our youth to live as a light for Christ and to provide a community that supports and encourages one another.

Students Reaching Students

  • Extending the love of Christ to friends.
  • Being a light to those in darkness.
  • Igniting the passion for God in each other.

Students Teaching Students

  • Increasing in knowledge of God’s Word.
  • Growing in the character of Christ.

Students Influencing the World

  • Serving in the church.
  • Serving in the community.
  • Serving in the world.

Middle School Youth Group

The Middle School Youth Group provides an opportunity for 5th through 8th graders to enjoy fun and fellowship with others their age. Activities range from service projects to exciting activities in and around Springfield, such as bowling, ice skating, and hiking. Youth are encouraged to bring non-member friends to all events! If you have any questions, please contact Josh Woody at

High School Youth Group

The High School Youth Group meets periodically to fundraise and prepare for the LCMS Youth Gathering. The LCMS Youth Gathering is held every 3 years and provides thousands of youth and adults the opportunity to come together as a community to learn more about Jesus Christ, the Christian faith, and their Lutheran identity. Please click on the link below for more information on the registration process for the upcoming Youth Gathering.
